Dr. Gerson is a surgeon whose career at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago spanned 26 years, caring for children of all ages, including newborns. She cared for healthy children as well as critically ill and special needs children. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and is on the faculty of Northwestern University.

She is married to Rabbi Gary S Gerson of Oak Park Temple and has two daughters. Rabbi Jordie Gerson is Associate Rabbi at the Joseph Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale University, and Jessica Gerson is a graduate of the Tulane School of Social Work.
